6 Great Antique Malls Along the West Michigan Lakeshore
From Saugatuck up to Grand Rapids, the West Michigan lakeshore is one of the best antiquing runs in the Midwest. Here are six malls and markets worth building a day around, and how to string them into a weekend road trip.
The West Michigan lakeshore was built for a slow day of hunting. The resort towns along Lake Michigan draw people who like to browse, the old downtowns and farm buildings give the malls room to sprawl, and the whole run from Saugatuck up to Grand Rapids sits inside an easy hour's drive. Point the car up the coast and you can hit several of the region's best antique malls in a single weekend.

Start on the coast. The Pavilion packs 23,000 square feet and more than 100 vendors just off the Blue Star Highway, with a book-and-coffee nook for anyone who's browsed enough and a brewery next door for lunch. Twenty minutes north in Holland, the Wooden Shoe fills the town's former Wooden Shoe Factory with more than 100 booths of antiques, collectibles, and one-of-a-kind finds. The building itself is part of the fun, and it pairs neatly with a walk around Holland's tidy downtown.

Keep heading up the coast to Grand Haven, where this 12,000-square-foot mall spreads antiques and collectibles across 72 booths. It's an easy, well-organized stop, and a good excuse to spend the rest of the afternoon at one of the nicest beach towns on the lake.

Turn inland toward Grand Rapids and stop in Comstock Park at Pinky's Place, a West Michigan antique and artisan market with more than 130 booths. Alongside the antiques, vintage, furniture, vinyl, and jewelry, you'll find a good showing of Michigan-made goods, which makes it a fun place to pick up something new as well as old.

In Grand Rapids proper, Wally's Treasures runs three levels and 20,000 square feet, with 130 vendors and 85 glass showcases packed with vintage, collectible, and repurposed finds. The showcases are the draw here, so give yourself time to work the cases slowly.

The Allegan Antiques Market is a seasonal market that fills the Allegan County Fairgrounds with hundreds of indoor and outdoor sellers, the kind of hunt where you show up early with cash and a bag. Plan the loop
